* Breathe In: Trees take in carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air through tiny openings called stomata on their leaves.
* Breathe Out: Trees release oxygen (O2) into the air through their stomata.
The Process:
This process is called photosynthesis, where trees use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create their own food (sugar) and release oxygen as a byproduct.
Important Note: While trees release oxygen, they also use some of it during respiration, which is the process of breaking down sugar for energy. However, the amount of oxygen they produce during photosynthesis is much greater than what they use during respiration.
