Here's why:
* Dry: Boreal forests receive low precipitation, typically less than 50 cm (20 inches) per year, which is significantly less than other forest biomes.
* Cold: They experience extremely cold winters with temperatures often dropping below -50°C (-58°F), and short, cool summers.
* Coniferous Trees: The dominant trees are coniferous, like spruce, fir, and pine, which are adapted to the cold climate and low precipitation. These trees have needle-shaped leaves that can withstand freezing temperatures and minimize water loss.
Other forest biomes, like Temperate Deciduous Forests or Tropical Rainforests, receive much higher rainfall and experience warmer temperatures than the Boreal Forest.
