  • Venus Flytrap: Deciduous or Coniferous? Understanding Plant Life Cycles
A Venus flytrap is neither deciduous nor coniferous.

    * Deciduous plants lose their leaves seasonally, usually in the fall or winter.

    * Coniferous plants have cones and typically have needle-like leaves that they keep year-round.

Venus flytraps are neither of these. They are perennial plants, meaning they live for more than two years. They have specialized leaves that trap insects, and while these leaves may die back in the winter, the plant itself continues to live and grow.
