  • Horticulture vs. Gardening: Understanding the Difference
    The art of garden cultivation is generally called horticulture.

    While "gardening" is a more common term, horticulture is the broader term encompassing all aspects of cultivating plants, including:

    * Growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers

    * Designing and maintaining gardens

    * Scientific research on plant growth and development

    * Commercial production of plants for sale

    So, while gardening is a form of horticulture, horticulture is a more encompassing term that includes the science and art of growing plants.
