  • Charles Darwin & Alfred Russel Wallace: The Founders of Evolution by Natural Selection
The theory of evolution by natural selection was proposed by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

While Darwin is often credited as the sole originator of the theory, Wallace independently developed similar ideas. Both men presented their findings at a scientific meeting in 1858, leading to the publication of their joint paper. However, Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species" (1859) provided a more detailed and comprehensive explanation of the theory, solidifying his place in scientific history.
