Here's why:
* Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. Human beings have mass (we weigh something) and occupy space (we have volume).
* We are composed of atoms. Our bodies are made up of elements like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and many others, all of which are composed of atoms.
* We exhibit the properties of matter. We can be solid (our bones), liquid (our blood), and even gaseous (the air we breathe).
So, while we are complex and fascinating beings, we are fundamentally made of matter just like everything else in the universe.
