  • Free Fall Examples: Understanding Accelerated Motion
Here are a few examples of objects in free fall:

    * A skydiver after jumping out of a plane: Once the parachute is deployed, the skydiver is no longer in free fall.

    * A ball dropped from a height: As long as air resistance is negligible, the ball will accelerate downwards due to gravity alone.

    * A meteor entering the Earth's atmosphere: Before significant air resistance slows it down, a meteor is essentially in free fall.

    * A satellite orbiting the Earth: While it seems counterintuitive, a satellite in orbit is technically in free fall. It's constantly falling towards Earth due to gravity, but its horizontal velocity keeps it moving in a circle around the planet.

Important Note: Free fall is defined as an object falling under the influence of gravity alone. This means no other forces are acting on the object, like air resistance. In reality, air resistance is always present, so true free fall is only an approximation.
