  • Understanding Free Fall: What's the Term for a Falling Object?
An object in free-fall is simply called a falling object.

There isn't a specific term for an object in free-fall, though the term "projectile" is sometimes used if the object is launched with an initial horizontal velocity.

    Here's why:

    * Free-fall is a specific condition where the only force acting on an object is gravity.

    * Falling object is a general term for anything moving downward due to gravity, whether in free-fall or with other forces acting on it (like air resistance).

So, it's more accurate and understandable to just call it a falling object in free-fall.
