  • Understanding Sea and Land Breezes: A Natural Cycle
The sea breeze and land have the following in common:

    * They are both part of a natural cycle driven by temperature differences: The sea breeze is caused by the difference in temperature between the land and the sea, while the land breeze is caused by the difference in temperature between the land and the sea at night.

    * They are both examples of convection: Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (in this case, air). In both sea and land breezes, warm air rises and cooler air sinks, creating a circular flow of air.

    * They both influence weather patterns: Sea breezes can bring cooler temperatures and increase humidity to coastal areas, while land breezes can bring drier air inland.

While they are both related to temperature differences, the direction of air flow is opposite:

    * Sea breeze: Air flows from the sea towards the land.

    * Land breeze: Air flows from the land towards the sea.
