  • Why is There No Life on the Moon? - Atmospheric & Environmental Factors
There are no plants or animals on the moon because:

    * Lack of Atmosphere: The moon has virtually no atmosphere. This means there is no air to breathe, and no protection from the harsh radiation from the sun.

    * Extreme Temperatures: Temperatures on the moon fluctuate wildly between extreme heat during the day and extreme cold at night. Plants and animals would not be able to survive these temperature swings.

    * No Liquid Water: While there is evidence of water ice in permanently shadowed craters, there is no liquid water on the lunar surface. Life as we know it requires liquid water to survive.

    * No Soil: The moon's surface is covered in a layer of dust and rocks called regolith, which is not suitable for plant growth.

In short, the conditions on the moon are simply too harsh and unforgiving for any known life to exist.
