  • The Sun: Earth's Only Self-Luminous Celestial Body
The only celestial object that radiates its own light that people can see from Earth is the Sun.

    Here's why:

    * The Sun is a star: Stars are massive balls of hot gas that generate their own light and heat through nuclear fusion.

    * Other celestial objects reflect light: The Moon, planets, and most other objects in space do not produce their own light. We see them because they reflect sunlight.

While some other objects in space might emit a faint glow, it's not visible to the naked eye from Earth.
