    Scientists use three primary methods to study the Earth's interior:

    1. Seismic Waves: This is the most important method. Earthquakes and controlled explosions generate seismic waves that travel through the Earth. Scientists analyze the travel times, paths, and changes in these waves to determine the composition, density, and physical state of different layers. This is analogous to how doctors use ultrasound to image the inside of the human body.

    2. Gravity and Magnetic Fields: Variations in Earth's gravity and magnetic field provide clues about the composition and density of different layers. For example, areas with denser materials tend to have stronger gravity, while anomalies in the magnetic field can indicate the presence of specific minerals.

    3. Volcanic Eruptions: Volcanic eruptions bring materials from deep inside the Earth to the surface. Studying the composition of erupted materials, like lava and ash, helps scientists understand the composition of the Earth's mantle and core.

    These three methods complement each other, providing a comprehensive picture of the Earth's interior.
