  • Common Wildflowers of Virginia: A Guide to Virginia's Native Plants
    There are many common plants that grow wild in Virginia, but a very common and recognizable one is Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta).

    It's a cheerful wildflower with bright yellow petals and a dark brown center, and blooms from summer to fall. You'll find it along roadsides, in meadows, and even in some gardens.

    Other common wildflowers in Virginia include:

    * Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica)

    * Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia)

    * Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis)

    * Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa)

    * Goldenrod (Solidago spp.)

    To identify specific plants, it's best to use a field guide or consult with a local expert.
