  • Yellow River: Source of Yellow Silt and Chinese Civilization
The river that is most famous for having large amounts of yellow silt is the Yellow River (also known as the Huang He).

The river's name even comes from the massive amount of sediment it carries, which gives the water a yellowish-brown color. This sediment is the reason why the Yellow River is also known as the "cradle of Chinese civilization," as the silt deposited on its banks created fertile land for agriculture.
