  • Hydrosphere: Understanding Earth's Water and Ice
Earth's water and ice, collectively, are called the hydrosphere.

    Here's why:

    * Hydro comes from the Greek word "hydor", meaning water.

    * Sphere refers to the Earth's shape.

The hydrosphere includes all the water on Earth, whether it's in the oceans, lakes, rivers, groundwater, glaciers, or even the water vapor in the atmosphere.
