* Buildings: Pigeons are very adaptable and have taken advantage of human structures for nesting and roosting. They often find shelter in attics, balconies, ledges, and other areas.
* Cliffs: In their natural habitats, pigeons often nest on cliffs, which offer similar protection to buildings.
* Ground: Some species of pigeons, particularly the Rock Dove (the ancestor of the common pigeon), will nest on the ground, especially in sheltered areas.
Why not trees?
* Lack of protection: Trees offer less protection from predators than buildings or cliffs, making them less suitable for nesting.
* Nest building: Pigeons build simple nests on flat surfaces, making trees a less ideal spot.
So, while you might see a pigeon perched on a branch occasionally, they don't generally live in trees.
