  • Essential Plant Nutrients: What Plants Absorb from the Soil
Plants absorb many nutrients from the soil. The primary nutrients required by plants are:

    - Nitrogen: Nitrogen is essential for the growth of leaves and stems. It is also a component of proteins and chlorophyll.

    - Phosphorus: Phosphorus is important for root development and flowering. It is also involved in energy transfer and photosynthesis.

    - Potassium: Potassium is essential for water regulation and the transport of sugars throughout the plant. It also plays a role in photosynthesis and protein synthesis.

In addition to these primary nutrients, plants also require secondary nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, and micronutrients such as iron, manganese, zinc, copper, molybdenum, and boron. Micronutrients are required in very small amounts but play important roles in plant growth and development.
