  • Earth's Core: Understanding the Heat and Composition
The middle of Earth, known as the Earth's core, is extremely hot, but it's not a fireball. The core is primarily composed of solid iron and nickel. The high temperature of the core is mainly due to the decay of radioactive elements, gravitational compression, and the residual heat from the Earth's formation. The core is not in a state of combustion or burning.
