  • Human Impact on Climate Change: 2 Key Ways
    1. Burning Fossil Fuels:

    - Humans rely heavily on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas for energy production, transportation, and industrial processes.

    - When these fossil fuels are burned, they release large amounts of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), into the atmosphere.

    - The increased concentration of greenhouse gases traps heat, leading to the greenhouse effect and a rise in average global temperatures.

    2. Land Use Changes:

    - Deforestation is a significant contributor to climate change.

    - When forests are cleared for agriculture, urban development, or other purposes, large amounts of CO2 are released into the atmosphere as trees are cut down and the soil is disturbed.

    - Forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing CO2 during photosynthesis. Reducing forest cover means there are fewer trees to absorb carbon dioxide, resulting in higher concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

    - Additionally, certain agricultural practices, such as livestock farming and the use of certain fertilizers, also contribute to the release of greenhouse gases like methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O).
