  • Water Diffusion: Understanding Osmosis and Concentration Gradients
No, it is not true. Water tends to diffuse from a region where it is highly concentrated to a region where it is less concentrated. This process is called osmosis. Osmosis occurs when there is a difference in the concentration of water on either side of a semipermeable membrane. The semipermeable membrane allows water molecules to pass through, but it does not allow solute molecules to pass through. As a result, water molecules move from the side of the membrane where the concentration of water is higher to the side of the membrane where the concentration of water is lower.
