  • Plant Carbon Source: How Plants Build Structures with CO2
    The plant gets carbon to make structures from the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The process of photosynthesis, which takes place in the chloroplasts of plant cells, converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. The glucose is then used by the plant to build structures such as cell walls, leaves, and stems.
