The eastern redbud tree (Cercis canadensis), also known as the Judas tree or American redbud, can provide partial shade. While Eastern Redbud trees are not known to cast particularly dense or sprawling shade, they can offer light to medium coverage with dappled sun filtering through their leaves to illuminate areas beneath the tree and allow growth of some sun-tolerant understory plant.
