    Scientific name - Blighia sapida

    The aril of the ackee fruit is bright yellow and glossy. The edible section is soft, spongy and slippery when fully mature. The ackee is consumed as breakfast in Jamaica along with saltfish, and is frequently referred to as the national fruit of Jamaica.
