Flowers originated approximately 140-150 million years ago during the late Jurassic period. Their evolution is closely tied to the diversification of insects, mainly beetles and bees, who acted as pollinators in exchange for nectar produced by the blooms. This mutually beneficial relationship fueled the development of increasingly sophisticated floral structures and led to the emergence of different flower species we encounter today.
