  • Understanding Contrails: What Are Aircraft Trails in the Sky?
The spooky trails in the sky are actually contrails, also known as condensation trails, which are long, thin clouds formed by aircraft engines. They are composed of water vapor, ice crystals, and sometimes soot and other particles emitted by the engines. When the hot, humid exhaust from the engines mixes with the cold, dry air at high altitudes, it condenses and forms the visible trails.
