  • The Climate Project: Understanding and Addressing Extreme Weather
The Climate Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by former US Vice President Al Gore. Its mission is to "inform, inspire and empower people to understand and address the climate crisis." The Climate Project has trained over 1,500 "Climate Reality Leaders" who have reached over 3 million people with climate change presentations.

One of the most significant contributions of The Climate Project was the release of the documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth" in 2006. The film, which Gore narrated and co-produced, presented a comprehensive overview of the science of climate change and its potential impacts on the planet. "An Inconvenient Truth" was a critical and commercial success, winning two Academy Awards and grossing over $249 million worldwide. It is credited with raising public awareness of climate change and helping to galvanize support for action on the issue.

In addition to its work on climate change education, The Climate Project has also been involved in advocating for policy solutions to address the crisis. In 2007, Gore and The Climate Project launched the Repower America campaign, which called for a transition to a clean energy economy. In 2008, The Climate Project helped to pass the Waxman-Markey climate bill in the US House of Representatives. The Climate Project continues to advocate for policies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
