Conducted by the UK conservation charity, this is the first nationwide survey of its kind which aims to understand the importance of gardens as habitats for pollinating insects, such as bees, butterflies, and other organisms crucial in the country's ecosystem. People across the UK are being urged to conduct a simple "insect count" in their gardens and submit their findings as a part of the year-long study.
Participants are required to count how many insects they see visiting flowers for five minutes daily and log data using any web browsers such as computers, mobiles, iphones, and any smartphone device. Researchers aim to analyze more than one million visits, and the collective result provides crucial information regarding pollination trends across the UK as the pollinators' populations face severe threat.
