The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), in its Sixth Assessment Report, concluded that human influence has led to an increase in the frequency and intensity of heavy precipitation events. The report also found that these changes are projected to continue in the future, with an increase in the number of intense precipitation events over most land areas under most greenhouse gas emissions scenarios.
However, it is important to note that while the frequency and intensity of heavy precipitation events are increasing globally, their occurrence still varies regionally. Some areas may experience increased rainfall intensity while others may receive less, and the nature of rainfall can be affected by additional factors such as atmospheric circulation patterns and land surface features. It is difficult to attribute individual extreme weather events entirely to climate change alone.
