  • Donald Johanson Seeks New Human Ancestor Remains in Ethiopia
The discover of the Lucy skeleton, Donald Johanson, hopes to continue his research in the Afar region of Ethiopia to locate an even more complete skeleton of a human ancestor that lived between 4.4 million and 4 million years ago. He believes that such a discovery would provide new insights into the evolution of humankind and shed light on the critical transition from ape-like ancestors to early humans.

This region has already yielded many significant hominid fossils, including Lucy, who is considered to be one of the most complete and well-preserved early hominid skeletons ever found. Johanson believes that the Afar region still holds many secrets about our origins and is committed to continuing his search for evidence that can deepen our understanding of human evolution.
