For many students, the most dreaded moment of a test is seeing their final score. A quick calculation can turn that anxiety into confidence. When an exam contains 33 questions, the odd number may feel tricky, but with a simple formula the result is straightforward.
Write down the number of questions you answered incorrectly.
Subtract the missed count from 33. For example, missing four questions gives 33 – 4 = 29 correct answers.
Divide the correct count by 33. Using the example, 29 ÷ 33 ≈ 0.8788.
Multiply the fraction by 100. 0.8788 × 100 ≈ 87.88%.
Round 87.88% to the nearest whole number: 88%. If the first decimal is 5–9, round up; if 0–4, round down.
Once you have the rounded percentage, match it to your institution’s grading rubric. For example, 80‑89% typically earns a B.
