  • Upthrust Formula: Calculation & Buoyant Force Explained
    The formula for calculating upthrust is:

    Upthrust = Density of fluid × Volume of displaced fluid × Acceleration due to gravity

    This can be written more concisely as:

    U = ρVg

    Where:

    * U is the upthrust (measured in Newtons)

    * ρ is the density of the fluid (measured in kg/m³)

    * V is the volume of fluid displaced by the object (measured in m³)

    * g is the acceleration due to gravity (approximately 9.81 m/s²)

    Important Note:

    * Upthrust is also known as buoyant force.

    * The volume of fluid displaced is equal to the volume of the object submerged in the fluid.

    * This formula applies to objects fully submerged in the fluid as well as partially submerged objects.
