  • Solid vs. Liquid Ounces: Understanding the Difference & Conversion
You can't directly convert solid ounces to liquid ounces because they measure different things:

    * Solid ounces measure the volume of a solid object, like a block of cheese.

    * Liquid ounces measure the volume of a liquid, like water or milk.

The conversion between the two depends on the density of the substance. For example, 9 ounces of water would equal 9 fluid ounces, but 9 ounces of butter would equal a different volume in a liquid measuring cup.

To make the conversion, you would need to know the density of the solid.
