  • Amps to Watts Conversion: Calculate Power with Current & Voltage
    You can't directly convert amps (A) to watts (W) because they measure different things:

    * Amps (A) measure electric current, the flow of electric charge.

    * Watts (W) measure power, the rate at which energy is transferred or used.

    To convert amps to watts, you need to know the voltage (V):

    * Power (Watts) = Current (Amps) x Voltage (Volts)

    Example:

    If you have a device with a current of 0.1A and it's plugged into a 120V outlet, the power would be:

    * Power = 0.1A * 120V = 12 Watts

    Therefore, you need the voltage to calculate the wattage from a given amperage.
