  • Milligrams to Milliliters: Understanding the Difference & Conversion
Milligrams (mg) and milliliters (mL) are both units of measurement, but they measure different things. Milligrams measure mass, while milliliters measure volume. So, there is no direct conversion between milligrams and milliliters.

However, if you know the density of a substance, you can calculate its mass in milligrams from its volume in milliliters. Density is defined as mass per unit volume. So, if you know the density of a substance in grams per milliliter (g/mL), you can calculate its mass in milligrams by multiplying its volume in milliliters by its density in grams per milliliter.

For example, if you have 10 milliliters of water, and the density of water is 1 g/mL, then the mass of the water is 10 grams. 1 gram is equal to 1000 milligrams, so the mass of the water is 10,000 milligrams.

Therefore, there are 10,000 milligrams in 10 milliliters of water.
