  • College Football: Are Late-Season Losses Overpenalized? Data Says No.
    While it might seem intuitive that teams that lose late in the season are penalized more harshly than those that endure early struggles, that does not hold up under scrutiny. In fact, a team that plays the same schedule would have exactly the same strength of record after losing by nine touchdowns in Week 10 as they would by one point in Week 19. It appears human bias is driving the idea that teams are more severely punished when they lose late.
