  • Herod the Great's Role in the Second Temple Walls: A Detailed Look
    While it is true that Herod the Great did not build the entire Second Temple, he did contribute significantly to its construction. He renovated and expanded the outer walls of the Temple Mount, which included building the Western Wall, one of the most iconic structures in Jerusalem today. Herod also built other parts of the Temple complex, including the royal portico and the Antonia Fortress. However, it is important to note that the construction of the Temple itself, including the inner courts and the Holy of Holies, was already completed during the reign of King Solomon, centuries before Herod's time.
