According to a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, half of Facebook users say they don't understand how the News Feed works.
The survey found that 52% of Facebook users say they don't know how the News Feed algorithm decides which posts to show them, and 47% say they don't understand how the News Feed is personalized for them.
This lack of understanding is especially pronounced among older Facebook users. For example, 68% of users aged 65 and older say they don't know how the News Feed algorithm works, compared to 38% of users aged 18 to 29.
The survey also found that many Facebook users are concerned about the lack of transparency in the News Feed algorithm. For example, 62% of users say they are concerned about the way Facebook decides which posts to show them, and 48% say they are concerned about their personal information being shared with advertisers.
These findings suggest that Facebook needs to do a better job of educating users about how the News Feed works and addressing their concerns about privacy.
