  • Ben Nevis: The Scottish Mountain Named After a Physicist
The mountain named after a Scottish physicist is Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles.

It's named after the Scottish Gaelic word "Beinn Nibheis", which translates to "Mountain of the Peaks". It was formerly known as "Cnoc na h-Alba" ("Hill of Scotland") and "Beinn-na-caillich" ("Mountain of the Old Women") which, according to folklore, was said to be inhabited by a tribe of witches.
