  • Earth's South Magnetic Pole: Location, Movement & Key Facts (2023)
The South Magnetic Pole is not a fixed point like the geographic South Pole. It moves constantly, but its current location (as of 2023) is near the coast of Antarctica, in the Weddell Sea, around 64° South latitude and 137° East longitude.

    It's important to note that:

    * It's constantly shifting: The magnetic poles are not static and move around the Earth's surface.

    * It's different from the geographic South Pole: The geographic South Pole is the southernmost point on the Earth, while the South Magnetic Pole is the point where the Earth's magnetic field lines converge.

    * It's a point of convergence, not a fixed location: It's not a physical object, but a theoretical point where the magnetic field lines converge.

You can find updates on the location of the South Magnetic Pole on the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) website.
