  • Oceanic Crust Composition: Iron, Magnesium, and Silicon Content
Oceanic crust contains more of these three elements than continental crust:

    1. Iron (Fe): Oceanic crust has a higher iron content due to the presence of minerals like olivine and pyroxene, which are rich in iron and magnesium.

    2. Magnesium (Mg): Similar to iron, magnesium is abundant in the minerals found in oceanic crust.

    3. Silicon (Si): While both oceanic and continental crust contain silicon, oceanic crust has a slightly higher proportion of silicon due to the presence of minerals like plagioclase feldspar.

It's important to note that both types of crust contain a variety of elements, but these three are significantly more abundant in oceanic crust.
