    Igneous and metamorphic rocks become sedimentary rocks through a process called the rock cycle. It involves these steps:

    * Cementation: Dissolved minerals in the water seep between the sediment particles. As the water evaporates, these minerals precipitate out, forming a cement that binds the sediments together.

    4. Lithification:

    * The combined processes of compaction and cementation turn the loose sediments into solid rock, forming sedimentary rocks.

    Here's a simplified explanation:

    * Imagine a mountain made of granite (igneous rock). Over millions of years, the granite is broken down by weathering and erosion.

    * The sediment is carried by a river and deposited in a lake. Over time, layers of sediment build up, compressing the lower layers.
