  • Tethys Sea: The Ancient Ocean That Shaped Continental Drift
The ancient sea that separated Gondwanaland and Laurasia in the Continental Drift proposal is called the Tethys Sea.

The Tethys Sea was a vast ocean that existed during the Mesozoic Era, spanning from the present-day Mediterranean Sea to the Himalayas. As the continents drifted apart, the Tethys Sea gradually closed, leading to the formation of the mountain ranges we see today in the Himalayas and Alps.
