  • Understanding Wind Erosion: Causes & Impact on Deserts, Beaches, & Farmlands
The type of erosion common in deserts, beaches, and plowed fields is wind erosion.

    Here's why:

    * Deserts: Deserts have little vegetation to hold the soil in place. Strong winds can easily pick up loose particles, transporting them across vast distances.

    * Beaches: Sandy beaches are naturally exposed to wind. Waves also contribute to erosion, but wind plays a significant role in shaping the dunes and transporting sand along the coastline.

    * Plowed Fields: Plowing disrupts the natural structure of the soil, leaving it vulnerable to wind erosion. The lack of cover makes it easy for the wind to pick up topsoil, leading to soil degradation.

Other types of erosion might occur in these areas, but wind erosion is the most prominent.
