  • Understanding the Rock Cycle: The Role of Igneous Rocks
The rock cycle is a continuous process, so there isn't truly a "first part". However, if we're thinking about the formation of new rocks, the process often starts with igneous rocks.

    Here's why:

    * Magma and Lava: Igneous rocks form from the cooling and solidification of molten rock, either magma (underground) or lava (above ground).

    * Crystallization: As the molten rock cools, minerals crystallize, forming the igneous rock.

So, while the rock cycle is a continuous loop, the formation of igneous rocks is often seen as the "starting point" for new rock creation.
