  • Tectonic Plate Collisions with the Indo-Australian Plate: A Comprehensive Overview
The Indo-Australian Plate collides with several other tectonic plates:

    * Eurasian Plate: This is the main collision zone, responsible for the formation of the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau.

    * Philippine Sea Plate: This collision occurs in the eastern part of the Indo-Australian Plate, forming the Banda Arc and the Molucca Sea.

    * Australian Plate: Although the Indo-Australian Plate is a single plate, it is considered to be "fracturing" along its eastern margin. This creates a zone of collision between the "Indian" portion and the "Australian" portion.

It's important to note that the boundaries between these plates are not simple lines, but rather complex zones of interaction with various levels of convergence, divergence, and transform faulting.
