    On a topography map, the elevation in round units is labeled on contour lines.

    Contour lines connect points of equal elevation. The elevation of each contour line is typically labeled at intervals, such as every 10 feet, 20 feet, or 50 feet, depending on the scale of the map.

    So, when you see a number on a contour line, that represents the elevation of all points along that line.
