  • Earth's Layers: A Comprehensive Guide (Outermost to Center)
Here are the five main layers of the Earth, starting from the outermost layer:

    1. Crust: The thin, outermost layer of the Earth, consisting of solid rock. It's divided into oceanic crust (thinner and denser) and continental crust (thicker and less dense).

    2. Mantle: The thickest layer of the Earth, composed of mostly solid rock but with a semi-molten layer called the asthenosphere. This layer is responsible for plate tectonics.

    3. Outer Core: A liquid layer of mostly iron and nickel. The movement of this liquid layer generates the Earth's magnetic field.

    4. Inner Core: A solid ball of mostly iron and nickel. Despite being incredibly hot, the immense pressure at the Earth's center keeps it from melting.

    5. Geosphere: This is not actually a distinct layer, but rather a term used to describe all the solid parts of the Earth, including the crust, mantle, and core.

Let me know if you'd like to learn more about any of these layers!
