  • Understanding the Layers of Continental Crust: Upper & Lower
    Continental crust is generally divided into two layers:

    1. Upper crust: This is the layer we directly interact with and is primarily composed of granite and sedimentary rocks. It is relatively lighter and less dense than the lower crust.

    2. Lower crust: This layer is denser and mostly composed of mafic and ultramafic rocks like gabbro and peridotite. It is believed to be more crystalline and can behave like a viscous fluid under certain conditions.
