  • Basin and Range Province: Normal Faults, Mountains, and Valleys
    The Basin and Range Province is characterized by normal faults, which cause the crust to stretch and thin, leading to the formation of mountains and valleys.

    It's important to note that there isn't a single mountain that defines the Basin and Range Province. It's a vast region encompassing many mountain ranges and valleys.

    Here are some examples of mountains within the Basin and Range:

    * Sierra Nevada (although on the western edge, the Sierra Nevada's formation is different, due to the San Andreas Fault)

    * White Mountains (California)

    * Wasatch Range (Utah)

    * Snake Range (Nevada)

    However, none of these mountains specifically define the presence of normal faults in the Basin and Range. The normal faults are the defining characteristic of the entire province, causing the uplift of the mountains and the subsidence of the valleys.
