  • Earth's Core Layers: Composition & Structure - A Comprehensive Guide
The Earth's core is made up of two layers:

    1. Inner Core: A solid sphere of mostly iron with a temperature of around 5,200° Celsius (9,392° Fahrenheit). The intense pressure from the weight of the Earth is so great that it keeps the iron from becoming liquid, even though it's above its melting point.

    2. Outer Core: A liquid layer of mostly iron and nickel. This layer is extremely hot (around 4,500° Celsius or 8,132° Fahrenheit) and is responsible for generating Earth's magnetic field.
